Pensacola Police – One of a kind

By Mike Simmons

The uniqueness of the Pensacola Police Department is not always evident. At first glance, it is made of highly trained men and women, wearing badges and uniforms, and driving police vehicles. Like all police departments, the officers respond to calls and investigate crimes.

What is not evident are the deep things;

Roots runs deep. The PPD is the oldest police department in the state of Florida, born on July 19, 1821.

Commitment runs deep. Twenty officers have given their lives in service to the citizens of the City of Pensacola.

Service runs deep. Since its inception, Pensacola Police Officers have been working the streets every day – without fail.

Many officers who currently work for or have worked for the PPD over the years may not have been aware that they were part of one of the most distinguished police departments in the United States. Keep it up.
