Come Hear about a Cop’s Cop – Henry Cassady

November 17, 2025

Pensacola Police Historic Society

We took a month off, so we have a very special meeting on November 17 – the Cassady Dynasty.

Henry Cassady – 1968

Henry Cassady was hired by the Pensacola Police Department in 1965. He wasn’t from Pensacola – he was from northern Santa Rosa County. It didn’t seem at first like he was a good fit. However, that mindset soon proved wrong. Henry loved his job and was good at it. He became a cop’s cop. He was the best street cop the Pensacola Police ever had. He got to know people well, and treated them with respect. But he didn’t put up with those law violators that broke the law with intention. On more than one occasion, he shot someone. But he also saved some…like the two small children he saved from the house fire.

Henry was the first recipient of the Pensacola Police Department Gold Medal of Valor award. He was a true hero.

Henry passed away in 2023, but his legacy still lives on at the PPD. On Monday night, November 17, 2025, at 6:00 PM, make plans to join us at the Pensacola Police Headquarters as we pay tribute to one of Pensacola’s Finest.
